Epitalon (Epithalon)
Epitalon (Epithalon) is the synthetic pineal tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, best known in the lab for switching on telomerase and lengthening telomeres in cultured human cells, and the research catalog lists it at https://onesourcepeptides.com/product/epithalon.
The headline finding is telomere maintenance. Khavinson, Bondarev and Butyugov, Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2003 (PMID 12937682) added Epitalon to telomerase-negative human fetal fibroblast cultures and reported expression of the telomerase catalytic subunit, measurable telomerase activity, and telomere elongation.
That result has since been extended with modern quantitative methods. Al-Dulaimi et al., Biogerontology, 2025 (PMID 40908429) treated normal epithelial and fibroblast cells plus two breast cancer cell lines and measured dose-dependent telomere extension in the normal cells through hTERT mRNA and telomerase upregulation, while the cancer lines lengthened telomeres through the alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) pathway instead.
In animals, Anisimov et al., Biogerontology, 2003 (PMID 14501183) followed female SHR mice for their whole lives and reported fewer bone-marrow chromosome aberrations, slower age-related loss of estrous function, a 12.3% longer maximum life span, and lower leukemia incidence versus saline controls. Araj et al., International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2025 (PMID 40141333) pull roughly 25 years of in vitro, in vivo, and in silico work together, covering antioxidant, neuroprotective, and antimutagenic readouts alongside effects on melatonin synthesis and telomerase.
Lot identity and purity belong on the certificate of analysis for the vial in hand. See Are research peptides third-party tested?. Epitalon on the catalog is laboratory research supply only.
